Like to read books on your computer, tablet, e-reader or smartphone?

Check out the library's e-books at Overdrive and FollettShelf.

You can also check out e-books from the San Antonio Public Library. All you need is your public library card.

There are many places where you can find free e-books.  Most of these books are classics that are no longer under copyright protection.

E-Books
Bartleby - includes fiction, non-fiction, poetry and reference works.
International Children's Digital Library - collects books from all around the world and in various languages.
Project Gutenberg - over 40,000 e-books.
Open Culture - 375 free e-books.
Open Library - attempts to create a web page for every book ever published.
Many Books - over 29,000 books available.


Audiobooks
Librivox - reads books from the public domain. You can volunteer to read chapters too.
Open Culture - 450 audiobooks.


Kindle and Nook
The Kindle and Nook apps are free to download to your tablet, smartphone or computer.

Free Kindle Books - Amazon has many free books available for Kindle download.
Free Nook Books - Barnes and Noble has many free books and samples available for Nook download.
